Thesis
The landmark test case, Korematsu v. U.S. Government, challenged whether the government's responsibilities to keep the nation secure in wartime justified their actions to take away the constitutional rights of the Japanese American people during World War II. Although the Supreme Court's decision, 6-3, in favor of the government remains standing as precedent, this decision has been widely criticized as unconstitutional. The legacy of the lessons learned from this case continues to impact our country and legal institutions today.
